Maang Tikka is a traditional Indian head accessory which was traditionally worn for the first time by a bride on her wedding day. It is essentially a centrepiece that is hooked on to the hairdo with a chain. Placed on the centre parting, the chain ensures that the drop pendant gracefully sits on her forehead.
However, now this is worn in a fashionable/trendy manner and no longer just as a traditional piece. With changing times the traditional piece has been given a new and different look for sure !!
I for one being a Tree of Life addict, had to try creating a Tree of Life Maang Tikka. Then I thought of giving it a totally different look by using copper wire to wire wrap it.
Of late, I have become a fan of malachite gemstones.
(Malachite is a gemstone which absorbs negative energies and pollutants, picking them up from the atmosphere and from the body. Guards against radiation and clears electromagnetic pollution. Malachite cleans and activates the chakras and attunes to spiritual guidance. It opens the heart to unconditional love.)
I decided to go with malachite gemstone chips. I thought the green of the malachite and the copper went perfectly. What do you think?
